Over on Twitter, account Brick Built Blogs has posted a first-look image at the upcoming Lego Mario Kart set. Made with 1972 pieces and costing a whopping $169.99, the set is a recreation of Mario and the basic kart available at the start of practically every Mario Kart game. Reportedly, this kit will be released on May 1, 2025, and is likely the set previously rumored back in early February.

I’m not personally into Lego kits such as this, but the image shows a remarkably detailed version of Mario that almost looks like a Nintendo DS render. While his face is certainly a little blocky, the kart looks perfect and almost doesn’t seem like a Lego kit. It’s astounding how detailed Lego kits can be, though I’ve also seen the excellent models at Legoland in both Florida and California and am just stunned by how accurate those are.
