Nintendo has made good use of this concept over the years themselves, and while the Gold Points program has recently been discontinued, the Platinum Points are still holding strong. For those who aren’t aware, My Nintendo Platinum Points are a currency acquired from completing missions that can be redeemed for a variety of physical merchandise, as well as the exclusive Nintendo Switch Online icons. There’ve been quite a few interesting rewards over the past year, so here’s a look at some of the best recent ones!
Beginning with the most recent of the rewards, a set of sticky notes themed around Donkey Kong Country Returns HD are available for 600 Points. If you feel the need to keep track of things in true Kong fashion, these might be for you.
While the holiday season may have passed, there’s no harm in preparing for next year. An ornament themed around Mario villains is ready to be redeemed for 500 Points, perfect for those thinking ahead or who haven’t taken down their Christmas trees yet.
If those aren’t practical enough, there’s also a set of coasters featuring characters from Super Mario Party Jamboree. There’s eight included in the set, and for only 450 Points no less, what a steal!
It isn’t just small items that are available here, at the hefty price of 1200 Points a reusable tote bag based on The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is up for grabs. The design features Princess Zelda’s look on the wanted posters throughout the game, which makes for a pretty fun discussion piece.
Wrapping up the list with what may well be the coolest item to come out during the past year, it’s the Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition hat! Running in at the same 1,200 Point price as the tote bag, it’ll take a bit of work for sure, but for those passionate about these games it is well worth it.
