Over the course of the past couple years, the main talking point swirling around among the Nintendo community has been the Nintendo Switch 2. With countless leaks and rumors leading up to its reveal, people have been eager to find out anything they can about this secretive system. Even now that there is official information on it, the rumors haven’t slowed down by any means. Just last weekend, the price of the console might have slipped out via a Canadian Costco of all places.
In a thread on Famiboards, a Costco employee shared two images of both an internal product listing and a sales floor sign for what may very well be the Switch 2. The items are written as a “Nintendo Switch Place Holder” with the sign being amusingly miswritten as “Palce Holder.” The price is set at $499 CAD, which equates to roughly $350 USD — remarkably low if this is in fact for the Switch 2. That being said, given that the Nintendo Switch OLED retails for $450 CAD and $350 USD, it seems more likely that this would convert to around $400 USD. That puts it towards the lower end of the most common price range estimates, which tend to vary between $400-$500 depending on who you ask.
That all being said, there’s no way to know for sure how legitimate any of this is. It could very well not be for the Switch 2, and even if it is, the price itself could be a placeholder subject to change. Even still it’s interesting nonetheless, and goes along with the proposed idea of making the system affordable above all else. Only time will tell if this ends up holding true; with the Nintendo Switch 2 presentation airing on April 2nd, it’s likely that we’ll know for sure by then.
