It’s been nearly a decade since GenDesign, formerly Team Ico, unleashed The Last Guardian for PlayStation 4. While that game was something of a disappointment in the wake of both Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, fans of director Fumito Ueda were hopeful we’d one day see a new game from the studio. That day is sooner than we could have ever imagined as a new teaser trailer for GenDesign’s next title was showcased at The Game Awards 2024.
In one of what Geoff Keighley was likely hyping up as a “Holy Shit” moment at this year’s Game Awards, a brief teaser ran for the next project from Ueda and his team. It’s hard to tell what, exactly, the game will be, but it involves piloting giant mechs. The player character (or what we assume to be the player character) also has a design that looks shockingly similar to Wander from Shadow of the Colossus. This might be a far future of whatever universe Ico is set in, which would be a neat bit of world-building.
Again, we have no idea what this game is called, what platforms it will be on, and when it will release, but Epic Games is publishing it. That likely means PC will be one of the platforms and we can likely expect all major consoles to see a release.
