So it goes with the internet, rumors are running rampant about information regarding the Switch 2 (or whatever Nintendo wants to call it). As with the speculation about an enhanced port of Kirby: Planet Robobot coming to the original Switch, this latest rumor about when Nintendo will finally give us details about its next home console comes from the NatetheHate podcast. Both NateDrake and MVG believe Nintendo is gearing up for a January/February reveal with a release later in May or in early June.
Most of this rumor is based around the dates of Nintendo’s fiscal reports. Nintendo’s next financial results meeting will be held on February 4th, 2025, so it makes sense that the company would want to reveal the Switch 2 ahead of that. This would put things in line with other rumors that suggest the console will be fully unveiled ahead of the end of the current fiscal year, which concludes in March 2025.
Following that, Nate claims that there is another event being planned for May 2025 that will give us even more information on the Switch 2. This will likely be similar to how Nintendo held an event for the original Switch in late January where it announced that the console would be out in less than two months. Supposedly, this event will reveal that the console is out in either late May or early June 2025.
Take all of this with a grain of salt. Until Nintendo officially says something, it’s hard to trust any information that might be floating around. A lot of this sounds plausible since it does resemble what Nintendo did for the first Switch seven years ago.
