With the Nintendo Switch turning eight years old next spring, it’s clear to all that the next Nintendo system is on the horizon. For months now, rumors of the so-called Switch 2 have abounded, with no official word from Nintendo themselves aside from a promise to reveal it within the fiscal year. While the plans within Nintendo remain largely secretive, leaks and rumors are inevitable during a time like this. Just today, a new supposed leak in regards to the system’s Joy-Con controllers has surfaced online.
The source comes from the Chinese website Bilibili, and showcases a video of a pair of new-looking Joy-Con. They seem very similar to the original controllers, albeit with a slightly different rail, bigger SL/SR buttons, and a conspicuous pedal near the triggers, among other smaller differences. It’s hard to be sure about the scale of these from the footage provided, but if these are real they are likely a bit larger than the originals, as the Switch 2 itself is rumored to be.

One aspect worth noting is that these Joy-Con seem to go along with an earlier leak which showed off alleged models for the Switch 2 as a whole, Joy-Con included. Whether that lends extra credibility to this is up in the air; while it could very well be real, it could also be an elaborate fake based on that aforementioned leak. There’s no way to be certain until an official reveal comes out, and as with all leaks it is best to take all of this with a hefty grain of salt. Nonetheless, it’s interesting to consider what might be on the horizon, even if these Joy-Con aren’t necessarily it.
