Fans of Nintendo and Retro Studios’ Metroid Prime trilogy are in for a treat next year. Made in collaboration with Piggyback, a company dedicated to premium quality strategy guides, a brand-new retrospective art book covering the three main Prime games will be released to commemorate the legacy of the series. Printed on premium sheet-fed paper with a stitch-bound cloth hardcover, the hefty tome will not only have artwork from all of the games but also new interviews, development sketches, and a forward by Metroid Prime producer Kensuke Tanabe.
Set to release in Summer 2025 and coming in at $49.99, the cover features an etched metallic foil drawing of Samus set against a stark black background. As you work your way through the 212 pages of drawings and renders, you’ll also be treated to new introductions for each game written by Retro Studios staff, commentary for specific pieces, and anecdotes from the staff on development. More than just a display of art, this is a celebration of one of Nintendo’s most beloved modern trilogies.
It’s easy to assume this art book is being released to coincide with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, but we still don’t have a firm date for when that hotly anticipated sequel will be arriving. More than likely, this is just a way for Piggyback to pay tribute to a series it loves while giving fans something to dig into before Nintendo finally unleashes the next installment. That’s a perfectly fine way to bide some time until Samus returns.
