A brand-new Kirby Café has finally opened in Osaka! Located in the Daimari Shinsaibashi Store in Osaka City, this now makes three permanent locations available in Japan. As with all other locations, the Osaka Café requires reservations, which can be hard to come by and often sell out quickly.
You can expect to find lots of Kirby merch and themed food, as well as iconic characters and locations from the franchise. Upon entering, Kirby and Waddle Dee greet you as they rest in front of a giant plate. You’ll be able to take a photo in this area, it’s a great photo op!
Osaka will feature menu options before other locations, as well as an exclusive menu only available here. One option available in Osaka first is based on the Kirby car that made its debut in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. This option features a Warp Star sandwich with roast beef and shrimp, with a Waddle Dee in the back and milk pudding to round out the set.
As for Osaka-exclusive food, there are a few options to choose from! A Waddle Dee burger with okonomiyaki sauce and meat pasta is available, as well as an optional souvenir plate. Kirby’s Super Suck (yes, that’s what it’s called) features kushikatsu, an Osaka specialty, stuffed inside a figure of Kirby inhaling. The skewers include sausage and Naruto candy. In that same vein, takoyaki cakes with Kirby inhaling are also available! Finally, a juice inspired by Kirby’s tornado ability is available.
I love how creative and immersive the cafés are, and I wish we could have something similar in the states. For now, I’ll have to live vicariously through photos!
