The number of drivers who have only been in a single Mario Kart title is fairly low, and typically justified as being a character from a game that was relevant at the time. After all, how many people are clamoring for the return of Honey Queen? That all said, Mario Kart Tour has established itself as a rule breaker for the series, putting any and all drivers it can think of into pipes to coax rubies out of players.
As such, I’m pleased to see the return of a character who enjoyed the spinoff spotlight for quite a while, all things considered, but who hasn’t been seen behind the wheel since Double Dash!! Welcome back, Petey Piranha!
Petey is (fittingly) headlining the Piranha Plant Tour, with Piranha Plant Slide from Mario Kart 7 being a fixture as far as tracks go, and also bringing back the Piranha Pipes kart from his GameCube racing debut.
A Petey Piranha Mii Racing Suit will also be available, with the Boomerang Flower as its signature item. The Piranha Plant Tour, its associated pipes, and this latest Mii Racing Suit will all be available in Mario Kart Tour starting Tuesday, July 12th, at 11 p.m. PT.
