There is no other Nintendo legend like Masahiro Sakurai. Every game the Kirby and Super Smash Bros. creator has helmed has been nothing short of spectacular, but on his side time from gaming and creating, the director has been a prominent writer for the Japanese magazine Famitsu. Publishing well over 600 column pieces, Masahiro Sakurai has been writing for Famitsu for almost 18 years now, but most prominently since Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U were in development.
After a portion of Famitsu’s upcoming monthly magazine leaked online, a spur of rumors circulated claiming that Mr. Sakurai was considering early retirement from the games industry. No need to fear those who jumped the gun because those words are unconfirmed. Thanks to PushDustIn who has been translating Sakurai’s work for years clarified that the rumor stating that the director was retiring is not referring at all to his game development days, but instead is pointing to the fact that Sakurai might be exiting Famitsu as a bi-weekly writer.
Note: Sakurai hasn't said if he is going to retire from the games industry. He is apparently just going to stop writing his bi-weekly column.
