Update: You can now check out our video showing off the Shovel Knight amiibo functionality:
Thanks to @MasterHand4444 on Twitter, we now know that the new Shovel Knight amiibo from Yacht Club Games work with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. As far as functionality goes, each one will give you the respective Spirit based on its character.
You can see the amiibo getting tapped into the game in MasterHand4444’s quick video:
