The Shovel Knight amiibo boasts great quality and functionality, as well as the distinction of being the first indie character to get immortalized in plastic. He might be a little lonely though, and with spectacular designs all around the rest of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove’s playable pixel paladins could provide some needed company on your shelf. In a recent interview, Designer and Director at Yacht Club Games Sean Velasco shared he thinks it’d be just as cool as we do.

Plague Knight, Specter Knight, and the upcoming King Knight are all mentioned by name as possibilities. With how much we love the original Shovel Knight and the currently exclusive to Switch Specter of Torment campaign, it would be incredible to see these designs come to (toys to) life. Yacht Club Games director Sean Velasco said,

“As far as more amiibo go… man, wouldn’t it be cool to see amiibo of Plague Knight, Specter Knight and King Knight!? That would be amazing. Maybe someday.”

The interview also goes over other topics, such as how Yacht Club develops and fine tunes ideas. Most interestingly, aside from the amiibo suggestions, is how impactful Nintendo’s support has been for the game. It’s why the newest chapter launched on the Switch, and they’re even considering a physical release on the platform down the line.

Would you be interested in more Shovel Knight amiibo? Or what about some other Nindie characters? Specter Knight would be a must buy for me and if we ever see a Yooka-Laylee or Azure Striker Gunvolt amiibo I’ll need more than a shovel to get out of being dirt poor.
