With the Switch dropping in just 11 days, gamers hoping to secure a unique User ID can get ahead of the launch-day rush and claim theirs through their Nintendo Account settings.

First made available back in December, there is still no official word from Nintendo regarding the purpose of these User IDs.

However, online speculation suggests it is related to the upcoming Nintendo Switch online services as a successor to the Wii U’s NNID.

By default, the field is populated with text reading “Not Set.”

Users who enter a User ID will be prompted to create a password for their User ID.

Those with the intent of owning a Nintendo Switch should claim their User IDs as soon as possible to avoid losing their ideal screenname come launch day.
