In a statement to Polygon, Nintendo has confirmed that Project Giant Robot has officially been scrapped. For those unfamiliar with the game, Project Giant Robot was first shown off all the way back at E3 2014 as a Wii U exclusive title.

When asked why the game had been scrapped, Nintendo told Polygon, “We made this decision after considering our overall product and development strategy.”

The title was originally supposed to allow the player to use the Wii U GamePad to move a giant robot through a city, knocking over buildings and fighting bad guys. Since announced, little to no new information about the title has been released, so the cancellation of the project really comes as no surprise.

Who knows, maybe the project will be resurrected on the Switch sometime in the future. Stay tuned!
