Splatoon has seen a very steady stream of content updates since its release a month ago. Tomorrow’s addition has the promise of being its most exciting yet.

Tower Control, an entirely new ranked multiplayer mode, will be available starting tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. PST. Part Tug-of-War and part domination, the mode sounds like the perfect kind of quirky to accompany Splatoon’s unique take on competitive shooting.

Each match starts with a small tower atop a platform planted directly in the center of the map. Both teams, instead of methodically inking their way across, rush directly to the tower. When the initial war zone dies down, and a player manages to make their way onto the tower’s platform, it starts to move slowly toward the opposing team’s base. If they fall off or are splatted, it stops. Riding the platform clearly makes you the prime target, so you will need an eagle eye and an amazing support team on the ground to keep the platform in motion. If a team manages to escort the tower all the way to the opponent’s base, they win the match. Alternatively, if the five minute timer expires before that happens, whichever team managed to ride the tower furthest is crowned the winner.

If you can’t wait until tomorrow night to get your first look at the new mode in action, Nintendo’s Treehouse: Live has you covered. Today at 3:00 p.m. PST, the team will be giving an early demonstration. You can find the stream at twitch.tv/nintendo.
