While many were excited to see the addition of a fully-fledged Battle Mode and the Splatoon Inklings to the Nintendo Switch’s version of Mario Kart 8, subtitled “Deluxe”, more than a few people were wondering if the game would receive extra race tracks. According to one of the Japanese streams that followed the Presentation the answer is no – the game will have 48 tracks, the exact number available in Mario Kart 8 combined with all of those available in the DLC.

The translation comes via Source Gaming, a website dedicated to translating these kinds of presentations, so it’s likely true.

Of course this is only really an issue for those who owned the original Wii U version, and even those fans will have access to the new battle mode which does offer some unique stages (including one based on Splatoon.) There’s always the chance Nintendo will return to the game and add even more DLC tracks later, too. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens after Mario Kart 8 Deluxe launches on April 28th.
