With the Nintendo Switch launching with a relatively paltry 32GB in-built storage limit (or 27gb once the operating system is factored in), it’s definitely raising eyebrows considering how large modern games can be. Often the biggest AAA titles run past the 50GB mark now, and even some smaller games are surpassing 10GB.

Thankfully it sounds like the system’s biggest launch title, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, isn’t going to eat up the entire system’s storage if you buy it digitally, although it’ll still require a big chunk. According to Destructoid, the game clocks in at around 13.4GB on Switch, while the Wii U version is 13GB.

For comparison, Xenoblade Chronicles X was a 22.7GB download on the Wii U and Skyrim Special Edition is 22.75GB on Xbox One. Zelda is likely smaller due to the fact it will rely less on high resolution textures and it presumably has fewer voice acted lines.

Either way, with the Switch accepting the relatively affordable SDXC Micro SD cards it will be pretty easy to expand the system’s storage much higher than the default 32GB, should the time come.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
